SUV vs. Church Bus

The accident occurred in a curve between an SUV and a church bus. The driver of the church bus was injured but not too seriously from what I gathered from the scene. I do not know if he had any passengers. When I arrived, the driver of the SUV was handcuffed and being searched, so feel there may have been alcohol involved in the accident. The bus went off the right side of the road and hit a hydrant. The road also had a film on it that made it slick which extended beyond the accident making the road slick. I am not sure if this had any influence on the accident. Units from Wayside Fire, Iredell Rescue, Troutman Fire/Rescue, Iredell County EMS and State Patrol were on scene.

Air bag deployed which helped reduce injuries to driver.	The stain on the roadway shows in this picture which went completely around the curve beyond the accident - it was difficult to not slide while standing.	The interior of the bus appears to be in good shape with no damage.
Family members gather items from the SUV	Heavy damage to the front of the vehicle.	Airbags deployed in the vehicle as the front end came toward the driver.
