At approximately 3:10pm Friday, September 15 West Iredell
Fire along with Iredell Rescue and Iredell EMS were dispatched to a multiple
vehicle accident on I-40 near MM 144 involving 3 Tractor Trailer trucks with
reports of one truck off the roadway in the woods and one rear end collision
with possible Pin-In, first in West Iredell Fire units confirmed one Pin-In.
During extrication of the victim Catawba County Station 8 was called in to set
up an Landing Zone for a Medical Chopper.
Catawba Rescue, Troutman Fire & Rescue and also Monticello Fire Dept. were among
other agencies assisting West Iredell FD and Iredell Rescue.
The extrication took approximately 1 hour.
Traffic on I-40 was backed up for more than 2 hours.
